In the Ballot Guide, to the right of each measure is a number which is assigned to a position on your Ballot Card. 3. Use a paper clip, tooth pick or sharp pencil to punch out the pre -scored square located just above the number assigned to the measure. 4. After you have finished voting, place your Ballot Card in the Ballot Security Envelope. 5. Put a first-class stamp on the envelope and mail it so it is postmarked no later than the day of the election. And whether there should be levied a further excess tax of approximately $2.91 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation (based on 100% of the true and fair value) to provide $2,181,000 for the School District's General Fund to pay part of the general expenses of maintenance and operation of the District, such levy to be made in 1999 for collection in 2000. Resolution 997/98:15 December 111h, 1997 Page 2 of 3 WHEREAS, the Constitution and laws of the State of Washington require that the question of whether or not such excess tax may be levied must be submitted to the qualified electors of the District for their ratification or rejection, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of Directors of the Mount Baker School District No 507, Whatcom County, Washington, as follows: Section I. It is hereby found and declared that the welfare of the children of the District requires it to carry out the plans hereinafter provided. Section 2. In order to provide $2,062,000 for the General Fund of the District, a tax of approximately $2.91per thousand dollars of assessed valuation (based on 100% true and fair value unless specifically otherwise provided by law) should be levied in 1998 for collection in 1999 upon all of the taxable property within the District in excess of maximum annual tax levy permitted by law to be levied for the District without a vote of the electors, and that in order to provide $for the General Fund of the District, a tax of approximately $2.91per thousand assessed valuation (based on true and fair value) should be levied in 1999 for collection in 2000 upon all the taxable property within the District in excess of the maximum annual levy permitted by law to be levied for the District without a vote of the electors. Section 3. It is hereby found and declared that an emergency exists requiring the submission to the qualified electors of the District of the proposition of whether or not there should be levied such an excess tax for the purpose described herein at a special election to be held herein on February 3, 1998. The Whatcom County Auditor as ex officio supervisor of election in Whatcom County is hereby requested to also find that such an emergency exists and to call and conduct said special election to be held within the District on that date and to submit to the qualified electors of the District the proposition hereinafter set forth.
