WHEREAS, in the judgment of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the district, it is essential and necessary for the protection of the public health, life and property, that necessary equipment be acquired to adequately supply the residents of said district with fire suppression capabilities. WHEREAS, inflationary increases of operation has exceeded the revenue, due to restrictions imposed by legislative action, from the property tax. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Fire Commis- sioners of Whatcom County Fire District No. 18 submit a proposal to the qualified electors of said district requesting authoriza- tion to increase the levy to $1.00 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation, which does not exceed the statutory limits authorized by law, without a vote of the resident electors of said district.
