WHEREAS, in the judgment of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the district, it is essential and necessary for the protection of the public health, life and property, that necessary equipment be acquired to adequately supply the residents of said district with fire suppression capabilities. WHEREAS, inflationary increases of operation has exceeded the revenue, due to restrictions imposed by legislative action, from the property tax. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Fire Commis- sioners of Whatcom County Fire District No. 18 submit a proposal to the qualified electors of said district requesting authoriza- tion to increase the levy to $1.00 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation, which does not exceed the statutory limits authorized by law, without a vote of the resident electors of said district. ADOPTED at the regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 18 on this 8th day of July, 1994. NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby authorized and ordered as follows: The undersigned concurs in the finding of an emergency and does hereby assume jurisdiction within Whatcom County of the above - mentioned special election of Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 18, Whatcom County, Washington, authorized and ordered by resolution of its Board of Fire Commissioners adopted on July 8, 1994, and will conduct said special election to be held November 8, 1994. 1994.
