Said petition contains the signatures of more than 60 per cent of the qualified registered electors residing'with- in the territory proposed to be annexed. R.C.W. 52.08.060 provides for the annexation of such territory without an election upon acceptance by the Fire District Commissioners. IN THE MATTER OF ANNEXATION TO ) WHATCOM COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION ) RESOLUTION DISTRICT NO. 18 ) WHEREAS, a petition containing the signatures of sixty percent (60%) of the qualified, registered electors residing within an area contiguous to Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 18, petitioning that said lands be annexed to the said Fire Protection District, was filed with the Whatcom County Auditor, and WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Auditor examined said petition and determined that the petition contained the signatures of 60% of the qualified, registered electors residing within the boundaries of the area proposed to be annexed and, on December 19, 1972, did certify to the sufficiency of signatures and filed said Certification with this Board, and WHEREAS, the Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 18, concurred with the petition for annexation, and WHEREAS, the Board of Whatcom County Commissioners determined that all proceedings for the said annexation are in compliance with the provisions of RCW 52.08.060, and that the annexation is for the best interests of Fire Protection District No. 18, and the territory proposed to be annexed. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the following described property be, and the same is hereby, annexed to and incorporated within the said existing Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 18: The Northwest quarter of the Northwest quarter, Section 21, and the Northeast quarter of the Northeast quarter lying easterly of the center line of the county road in Section 20, all in Township 37 North, Range 4 E., W.M. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the property within the annexed area shall be taxed and assessed the same as the property within the existing Fire Protection District No. 18, for current expenses and any indebtedness contracted prior to the date of this annexation.
