The District submitted the following language to proceed the ballot title and you verbally approved the above language providing that it was a regular property tax levy. Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 16 Proposition Emergency Medical Services Regular Property Tax Levy The justification for using the wording Emergency Medical Services Regular Property Tax Levy proceeding the ballot title is as follows: Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 16 resolution provides that .......an election to be held within the district on August 17, 2010 for a proposition authorizing the levy of a regular property tax, in the sum of 45 cents per $1,000.00 assessed valuation each year for six consecutive years beginning in 2010 to begin collection in 2011 for the provision of all emergency medical services as provided in Whatcom County Fire District No. 16 Resolution No 01-10 and the laws of the State of Washington RCW 84.52.069 RCW 84.52.069 Emergency medical care and service levies (2) A taxing district may impose additional regular property tax levies in an amount equal to fifty cents or less per thousand dollars of assessed value of property in the taxing district.
