NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on Tuesday, September 14, 1999, a special election will
be held in the above -named fire district for the submission to the qualified electors of said fire
district the following proposition:
FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT NO. 8
Proposition No. 1
Shall the Board of Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire
Protection District No. 8 be increased from three members to five
members?

The polling places for all precincts wholly or partially within the district shall be as follows:

Board of Fire Commissioners
To the Whatcom County Council:
The Board of Fire Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire District 8 has
determined that it is in the best interest of the Fire District to increase its
Board membership from three members to five members as provided by
RCW 52.14.015. The Board of Fire Commissioners for Whatcom County
Fire District 8 has_ voted unanimously at the regular Board of Commissioners
meeting held May. 5,1999 to submit a resolution to the Whatcom County
Council who is the legislative authority for the county, which Whatcom
County Fire District 8 is located. Upon receipt of this resolution the Board of
Commissioners requests that the Whatcom County Council direct the
Whatcom County Auditor to place on the next available election day ballot
the following proposition and be submitted to the voters of Whatcom County
Fire District substantially as follows:

11 WHEREAS, the commissioners of Whatcom County Fire Protection District #8 have

I am enclosing a copy of Whatcom County Council Resolution #99-024 which was at
the request of Fire Protection District No. 8. The resolution calls for a Special Election
to be held on the question of "Shall the board of commissioners of Whatcom County Fire
Protection District #8 be increased from three members to five members?
The next special election date is September 14, 1999 the date of the Primary Election.
Therefore, this election to be held within the district will be held on September 14, 1999.
