Do not mark, fold or punch the ballot punchcard except as outlined in the instructions. Your Mail -In Ballot Packet consists of: * This Ballot guide listing the ballot measures and/or candidates. • A pre -scored Ballot Punchcard. • A Ballot security envelope for the Ballot Punchcard. • A pre -addressed Return Envelope to return your voted Ballot Punchcard, which should first be enclosed in the Ballot security envelope. Remember to SIGN YOUR NAME on the outside of the MAILING envelope on the line under the Voter Affidavit. Your signature is compared to your signature on file with the County. 2. In the Ballot Guide, to the right of each measure or candidate, is a number which is assigned to a position on your Ballot Card. 3. Use a paper clip, tooth pick or sharp pencil to punch out the pre -scored square located just above the number assigned to the candidate or measure. 4. Write in candidates may be voted for by using the space provided on the flap attached to your ballot card. You must list both the Name and Office of the write-in candidate and the Political Party in Partisan races. Do not punch out a position number for any other candidate for that office. 5. After you have finished voting, place your Ballot Card in the Ballot Security Envelope. 6. Place the Ballot Security Envelope containing your voted ballot Punchcard INSIDE THE PRE -ADDRESSED MAILING ENVELOPE, 7. Put a first-class starnp on the envelope and mail it so it is Postmarked no later than the day of the election The ballot will be counted if it is postmarked not later than election day and if it is received by the county auditor not later than the tenth day following any special election or primary, or the fifteenth day following a general election. 8. The canvassing board members Shirley Forslof, Whatcom County Auditor, Robert Imhof, County Council member, and Karen Frakes, County Civil Prosecuting Attorney were present. Peter Griffin, Election Supervisor, Joyce Herrin and Ethel Heyrend election deputies were present. There were no political parry or other observers present. 9:03 Pete produced the summary report. 9:05 _ Shirley and the canvassing board verified the totals by comparing this summary report to the totals from election night and found they were the same. The report was initialed. 9:10 The seal on the Logic and Accuracy transfer case was checked and Pete opened it to remove the backup disk and the header cards. 9:16 The special ballots from the poll to be shown before the canvassing board were numbered 1 through 20 for identification. (For the canvass detail see attachment A.) It was the decision of the board that special ballots numbered 1, 2, 3, 6 and 8 through 19 be accepted for counting. The board decided that special ballots 4, 5, 7, and 20 be rejected and not counted. The absentee ballots were number I through'35A for identification. (For the canvass detail see attachment B.) It was the decision of the board that absentee ballots I through 30A and 32A through 35A be rejected and not counted. The board decided that absentee ballot 31 A be accepted for counting. 9:32 The absentee transfer case, containing the valid absentee ballots opened after election night, was inspected for the correct seal number and opened. 9:35 These valid absentees were counted along with the special and absentee ballots from today's canvass. 9:40 The canvassing board compared the new Auditor's Abstract of votes and verified the new totals. 9:45 The new summary report was verified and initialed by the board. 9:50 A backup of this election was completed and sealed in the transfer cases. The seal log was initialed and copied. 9:58 Meeting was adjourned.
