HomeMy WebLinkAbout1970 & 1971 - Merger Petition for Fire Protection District 17 & Fire Protection District 7 January 29, 1970 AND Annexation of Sandy Point Heights February 25, 1971�1 A N A 3 cP a CO pt 3 (D O CD D Q cD < m N N co m CD_ O m 3 - (n W W 0] W A A Cn A O) W W O 1 `91 G S n O 3 v WHATCOM CC]LIUN' RECENEU 7//7 FEB 2G 1971 4SSESSOR'S OFFICE IN THE MATTER OF ANNEXATION TO 1 WHATCOM COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION 7 R E S O L U T I O N DISTRICT NO. 17 WHEREAS, a petition containing the signatures of all of the qualified, registered electors residing within an area contiguous to Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 17, petioning that said lands be annexed to the said Fire Protection District was filed with the Whatcom County Auditor, and WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Auditor examined said petition and determined that the petition contained the signatures of all of the qualified, registred electors residing within the boundaries of the area proposed to be annexed and, on February 5, 1971, did certify to the sufficiency of signatures and filed said Certification with this Board, and WHEREAS, the Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 17, concurred with the petition for annexation, and WHEREAS, the Board of Whatcom County Commissioners determined that all proceedings for the said annexation are in compliance with the provisions of RCW 52.08.060, and that the annexation is for the best interests of the Fire Protection District No. 17 and the territory proposed to be annexed. , NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDERED that the following described property be, and the same is hereby, annexed to and incorporated within the said existing Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 17: The East half of Northwest quarter and the Southwest quarter of Section 4, and the East half of Section 4; the Southwest quarter of the Southwest quarter of Section 3; the North half of Section 9; and the Northwest quarter of Northwest quarter of Section 10, all in Township 38 North, Range 1 East, W.M. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the property within the annexed area shall be taxed and assessed the same as .the property within the existing Fire Protection District No. 17 for current expenses and any indebtedness contracted prior to the date of this annexation. BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF WHATCOM/COUNTY, WASHINGTON Attests Wella Hansen C airma County Auditor & Clerk of the Board By2-y Deputy Commies R E S O L U T I O N WHEREAS, a petition to merge certain terrib3rycontained within Fire Protection District No. 7, with Fire Protection District No. 17 was filed by the Merging District with the Merger District, and WHEREAS, the said petition stated the reasons for the proposed merger, gave a detailed statement of the finances of Fire Protection District No. 7 and Fire Protection District No. 17, listed assets and liabilities, stated the terms and conditions under which the merger is proposed and prayed for the merger, and WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Auditor examined said petition and determined that the petition contained the signatures of sixty percent (60%) of the qualified, registered electors residing within the boundaries of the area proposed to be merged and, on January 29, 1970, did certify to the sufficiency of signatures and returned said petition together with the certificate of sufficiency attached thereto to the Board of Commissioners of Fire Protection District No. 7, Merging District, and WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners of Fire Protection District No. 7 determined that all proceedings for the said merger were in compliance with the provisions of RCW 52.24.090-100 and that the merger is for the best interests of Fire Protection District No. 7 and the territory proposed to be merged. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners bf Fire Protection District No. 7 that the following described territory now contained within the boundaries of Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 7 shall be, and is hereby, merged with Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 17: Government Lots 1-2, Section 5, Twp. 38N., R 1E., W.M. Also Government Lot 4 and the Southwest quarter of the Northwest quarter (SW 1/4 NW 1/4 Section 4, Twp. 38N., R. 1E., W.M. Also that portion of Government Lot 3, Section 5, TWp. 38N., R 1E., W.M., Described as follows; Beginning at the quarter corner common to sections 4 and 5, Twp. 38N., R 1E., W.M., thence West along the center line of Section 5, 1037.5' to a concrete monument which marks the present high water line; being the true point of beginning; thence S 10 50' W 1901; thence N 720 51' E 131.0'; thence N 10 07' E 150'; thence West 123.0' to a true point of beginning. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the property within the area described above shall be taxed and assessed the same as the property within the boundaries of the existing Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 17.
