Dear Mrs. Hansen:
Enclosed are the original and a duplicate original of the Petition of the
Intalco Companies to withdraw their property from Fire District No. 7.

The Petition is filed pursuant to R. C. W. 52. 22. 010 and R. C. W. 57. 28. 010
et seq.
We shall, of course, be glad to cooperate with you in the processing you will
be required to do with reference to the Petition. The Companies have fur-
nished us with some engineering drawings showing the exact location of the
fire hydrants which will be available to the Fire District and we will be glad
to pass the drawings along at your direction or at anyone's request.
We trust that a bond will not be necessary for us to guarantee the costs of
the District in processing the Petition. If, however, you should require any
advance of costs or a bond, please let us know and we shall comply immedi-
ately.

Dear Mrs. Hansen:
This letter is written to withdraw the petition filed on or about
April 19, 1966, by Amax Realty Corp. , Howmet Realty Corp. ,
Bemax Realty Corp. , and Pechiney Enterprises Realty Corp. ,
which petition requested the removal of the companies' land
from Whatcom County Fire District No. 7. The companies
have concluded temporarily to postpone their request in order
to give time for further deliberation and discussion with the
Fire District.
This letter will also confirm that the companies are to bear
whatever expense your office and the Fire District have incurred
in connection with the processing of the petition to withdraw.
Please send the bills to the writer.
A copy of this letter is being sent to Mr. George Smith, the
President of the Board of Commissioners of Fire District
No. 7. We would nevertheless appreciate your informing
Mr. Smith directly upon your receipt of this letter.

Sound Realty Corp., BEMAX REALTY CORP, and PECHINEY ENTERPRISES
REALTY CORP. , all Delaware corporations, are the petitioners herein and are
the owners of that certain land within Whatcom. County Fire District No. 7 and
more particularly described as follows:
The northeast quarter of the southwest quarter of the southwest
quarter; the southeast quarter of the southwest quarter; and the
east half of the northeast quarter of the southwest quarter of
Section 20, Township 39 north, Range 1 east W. M.
The southeast quarter of Section 20, Township 39 north, Range
1 east W. M.
All that portion of the Southwest quarter of Section 21, Township
3,9 North, Range 1 East W. M. lying Southerly and Westerly of
the Rainbow Bypass Road.

4 Petitioners hereby respectfully request that the above described property
be withdrawn from said Eire District No. 7.
Petitioners hereby represent that the land above described is used as an
industrial site for the operation of an aluminum reduction plank, having its own water
system and its own fire protection system.
Petitioners further represent that said Fire District No. 7 cannot furnish to
the above described property water necessary for fire protection at reasonable cost
and the withdrawal of said property from said District will be of benefit to said
property and conducive to the general welfare of the balance of said District.
Petitioners represent that they have established and will maintain four fire
hydrants at the entrance and along the northerly perimeter of the plant proper in
such a manner as to be immediately available for use by the personnel and equip-
ment of said Fire District No. 7. That the location and availability of said fire
hydrants should be of great advantage to said Fire District No. 7 in that they furnish
an improved available water supply for said District's use in the control and proven-
tion of fire.
There are no owners other than petitioners of the property above described,
except for an area comprising less than 7 1/2 acres owned by the United States of
America for the purposes of nia.intaining an electric power substation. The total
number of acres in the property above describ5ed it 1086. 94 more or less.
