RESOLUTION # 29
A resolution of the Board of Fire Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire
Protection District No. 6, providing for the submission to the qualified
electors in that District, of a special election to be held in conjunction with
the School Bond Election on February 8, 1994. The proposition would
authorize removal of the 106% limit on increased revenue, pursuant to the
assessed levy rate on real property, within Whatcom County Fire Protection
District No. 6.
WHEREAS, in the judgement of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the
district, it is essential and necessary for the protection of life, property and
public health, that necessary equipment be acquired and maintained to
adequately supply the residents of said District with fire suppression
capabilities.
WHEREAS, inflationary increases in the cost of operation have exceeded
the revenue, due to restrictions imposed by legislative action, available from
real property taxation within that district.
THERFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Fire Commissioners of
Whatcom County Fire District No. 6 submit a proposal to the qualified
electors of said district requesting authorization to increase the levy to $1.00
per thousand dollars of assessed valuation, which does not exceed the limits
imposed by statutory law, without a vote of the resident electors of said
district.
ADOPTED at the regular monthly meeting of the Board of Fire
