Ordinance amending the 2026 Whatcom County Budget, request no. 4, in the amount of $1,804,963
SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:
Supplemental #4 requests funding from the General Fund:
1. To appropriate $140,182 in Sheriff to fund Rapid DNA machine using grant funds.
2. To appropriate $9,600 in Sheriff to fund officer wellness program using grant funds.
3. To appropriate $160,875 in Sheriff to fund Operation Stonegarden using grant funds.
From the Conservation Futures Fund:
4. To appropriate $314,000 in Planning & Development Services to cover completion of agricultural
and forestry conservation easement on Jacoy property using partial grant funding.
From the Road Fund:
5. To appropriate $4,050 in Public Works to fund moving the ferry spring lines as part of dolphin
preservation; companion to supplemental 45341.
6. To appropriate $2,711 in Public Works to fund ferry insurance increase; companion to supplemental
#5343.
From the Lake Whatcom Stormwater Utility Fund:
7. To appropriate $540,000 in Public Works to fund Austin Court stormwater improvements;
companion to supplemental 45335.
8. To appropriate $335,000 in Public Works to fund Strawberry Point stormwater improvements;
companion to supplemental 45359.

9. To appropriate $11,000 in Non -Departmental to fund permitting, inspections, and engineering for a
roof replacement at Maple Falls Park.

Attorney's office.
11. To appropriate $16,900 in AS -Facilities to fund completion of remodel in Assessor's office.

ORDINANCE NO. 2026-010
AMENDMENT NO. 4 OF THE 2026 BUDGET
WHEREAS, the 2025-2026 budget was adopted November 19, 2024; and
WHEREAS, changing circumstances require modifications to the approved 2025-2026 budget;
and
WHEREAS, the modifications to the budget have been assembled here for deliberation by the
Whatcom County Council.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the 2025-2026
Whatcom County Budget Ordinance #2024-057 is hereby amended by adding the following additional
amounts to the 2026 budget included therein:
