SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:
Request closing the NW Annex Redevelopment Fund and remaining funds of $2,706,727 be
transferred to the newly established project fund, the 32nd Street Property Acquisition Fund, which wll
be used to account for the revenues and expenditures related to purchasing the 333 32nd Street
property.

ORDINANCE NO. 2026-004
CLOSING THE NW ANNEX REDEVELOPMENT FUND
WHEREAS, on December 7, 2021, Ordinance 2021-087 created the NW Annex
Redevelopment Fund and funded the project; and
WHEREAS, the County has identified an alternative solution to replacing the existing
NW Annex building complex through the acquisition of a property; and
WHEREAS, the Real Estate Excise Tax Fund I, Public Utilities Improvement Fund (EDI),
sale of the Forest Street property, and the sale of the Animal Control Building initially funded
the project; and
WHEREAS, the current cash balance in the fund is approximately $2,706,727; and
WHEREAS, the remaining cash in the fund will be transferred to the newly established
project fund, the 32"d Street Property Acquisition Fund, which will be used to account for the
revenues and expenditures related to purchasing the 333 32"d Street property.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the NW
Annex Redevelopment Fund be dissolved and its remaining cash balance be transferred to the
newly established project fund used to account for the revenues and expenditures related to
purchasing the 333 32"d Street property.
