No Councilmembers will be present in the Council Chambers for the meeting. A live video of the online meeting will be projected on the screen in the Council Chambers, and a live stream of the meeting will be available for viewing through the Legislative Information Center. There will be no opportunity for public comment during these meetings. In accordance with COVID-19 (corona virus) guidance from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Whatcom County Health Department, gathering of large groups is currently not recommended due to the potential transmission of this disease. Whatcom County strongly encourages members of the public to view the meeting live online through the Legislative Information Center at https://whatcom.legistar.com/Calendar.aspx rather than attending in person. She worked for Whatcom County's Health Department from April 2016 through December 2018 as Assistant Director. As the Assistant Director she played a key role in strategic planning and business and internal operations. She was responsible for the budget and financial management systems, department activities within the countywide customer service initiative, overseeing national accreditation requirements, and the Community Health Improvement process. She also was highly involved in the managing the department's performance management system, ensuring all programs have performance measures associated with work plans, and seeking ways to improve program performance. She most recently served as a Congressional Fellow for the American Public Health Association with the US Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee where she met with stakeholders, Washington State constituents and advocacy groups, and Senate personal staff on topics before the committee and drafted and negotiated bills including vaccine safety, family violence and child abuse prevention, youth smoking and vaping regulations, chronic and acute disease prevention, obesity prevention, public health data modernization, and social and nutrition programs for seniors. Whatcom County Page 1 Printed on 2/19/2025 Agenda Bill Master Report Continued (AB2020-137) Ms. Lautenbach's other work experience includes leadership positions focused on policy, outreach, and government and community relations with King County, Recology, and the US Department of Health and Human Services. Ms. Lautenbach holds a Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of Washington. The appointment of Erika Lautenbach is the culmination of a multi -phased selection process which included input from Health department leaders and staff, community stakeholders, other County leaders, and references.
