School District bonds, This proposition authorizes the District to acquire
and equip additional classrooms, complete major maintenance and
capital improvements to District facilities including roof replacement at
Meridian Middle School, and construct and
equip a new Middle School Gymnasium, to
issue $2,900,000 of general obligation bonds Approved? - 8 4

SPECIAL PROCEDURE FOR LATE REGISTRATION
The registration books in all precincts within Meridian School District No. 505, Whatcom
County, Washington will be closed to original registrations and transfers between precincts after
Saturday, February 10, 2001, until after the Special Election held on Tuesday, March 13, 2001.
Mail -in voter registration forms can be picked up at the following locations.

State Drivers License Agency
Major grocery stores
No person may vote in any election unless he or she is registered to vote at least thirty days
before that election. If a person, otherwise qualified to vote in the state, county, and precinct in
which he or she applies for registration, is not registered to vote by the closing date of February 10,
2001, he or she may register to vote in person and apply for an absentee ballot in the Whatcom
County Auditor's office until 4:30 p.m., February 26, 2001.
The special registration and voting procedure begins February 12, 2001 and ends on
February 26, 2001 and the office hours are 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.
Please note the special registration and absentee -voting procedure can be done only at the
County Auditor's office, 311 Grand Avenue, Whatcom County Courthouse.

The canvassing board of Whatcom County, pursuant to chapter 29.62 RCW,
will hold public meetings beginning at 8:30 AM, Monday, February 26, 2001, at the
office of Shirley Forslof, Whatcom County Auditor, County Courthouse, 311 Grand
Avenue, Suite 103, Bellingham, Washington, to begin the initial processing,
including signature verification of the absentee ballots cast at the Special Election to
be held on March 13, 2001. The opening of the absentee ballots may begin no earlier
than Saturday, March 3, 2001, pursuant to RCW 29.36.060. For exact times and
locations call (360) 676-6742 or TDD (360) 738-4555. These meetings of the
canvassing board are open, public meetings, and shall be continued until the activity
for which these meetings are held has been completed.
A record of the proceedings of the county canvassing board shall be made
and maintained in the county auditor's office, and shall be available for public
inspection and copying. The record shall be retained for the same time period
required by law for the retention of absentee ballots.

1. Remember to SIGN YOUR NAME on the outside
of the MAILING envelope on the line under the
Voter Affidavit. Your signature is compared to your
signature on file with the County.
2.In the Ballot Guide, to the right of each measure or
candidate, is a number which is assigned to a
position on your Ballot Card.
3. Use a paper clip, tooth pick or sharp pencil to
punch out the pre -scored square located just
above the number assigned to the candidate or
measure.
4. Write in candidates may be voted for by using the
space provided on the flap attached to your ballot
card. You must list both the Name and Office of the
write-in candidate and the Political Party in
Partisan races. Do not punch out a position
number for any other candidate for that office.
5.After you have finished voting, place your Ballot
Card in the Ballot Security Envelope.
6. Place the Ballot Security Envelope containing your

7. Put_ a first-class stamp on the envelope and mail it

GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS — $2,900,000
The Board of Directors of Meridian School District No. 505 has adopted
Resolution No. 1-01 concerning this proposition to issue Meridian
School District bonds. This proposition authorizes the District to acquire
and equip additional classrooms, complete major maintenance and
capital improvements to District facilities including roof replacement at
Meridian Middle School, and construct and
equip a new Middle School Gymnasium, to
issue $2,900,000 of general obligation bonds Approved? - 8 4
maturing within a maximum of 10 years to
finance such improvements, and to levy excess
