Baker School District No. 507 Special Election — Proposition No.1 769 SCHOOL OPERATION LEVIES Levy Shall the following excess taxes for operation purposes be YES -119 levied for the Mount Baker School District's General Fund upon all taxable property within the District approximately S2.15 per S1,000.00 assessed value (based on 100% true and fair value} to provide S600,000.00 for 1989 collection; Levy, and approximately $2.12 per $1,000.00 assessed value NO. -121 (based on 100% true and fair value) to provide S600,000.00 for 1990 collection as specified in District Resolution No. 88-4? 247 No. Persons Voting Last General Election 1,990 60% Yes Vote 478 Prop. 1 Passed 75.7% RESOLUTION NO. 88-4 A resolution of the Board of Directors of Mount Baker School District No. 507, Whatcom County, Washington, providing for the submission to the qualified electors of the District at a special election to be held therein on February 2, 1988, of the proposition of whether or not there should be levied an excess tax of approximately $2.16 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation (based on 100% of true and fair value) to provide $600,000.00 for the District's General Fund to pay part of the general expenses of maintenance and operation of the District. Such levy to be made in 1988 for collection in 1989 and whether there should be levied a further excess tax of approximately $2.12 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation (based on 100% of true and fair value) to provide $600,000.00 for the District's General Fund to pay part of the general expenses of maintenance and operation of the District, such levy to be made in 1989 for collection in 1990. WHEREAS, the money in and to be .paid to the General Fund of Mount Baker School District No. 507, Whatcom County, Washington, during the 1988-89, 1989-90 and 1990-91 school years will be insufficient to enable the District to take care of all of its necessary financial obligations and to properly meet the educational needs of the students attending the District's schools; and, WHEREAS, in order to properly provide for said financial obligations and educational needs of the District for the next two successive school years, it is deemed necessary that a tax of approximately $2.16 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation (based on 100% of true and fair value) to provide $600,000.00 for the District's General Fund be levied upon all of the taxable property within the District in excess of the maximum annual tax levy permitted by law t❑ be levied for the District without a vote of the electors, such levy to be made in 1988 for collection in 1989 and that a tax of approximately $2.12 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation (based on 100% of true and fair value) to provide $600,000.00 for the District's General Fund be levied upon all of the taxable property within the District in excess of the maximum annual tax levy permitted by law to be levied for the District without a vote of the electors, such levy to be made in 1989 for collection in 1990; and WHEREAS, The Constitution and laws of the State of Washington require that the question of whether or not such excess tax may be levied must be submitted to the qualified electors of the District for their ratification or rejection, NOW, THEREFOR, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Directors of Mount Baker School District No. 507, Whatcom County, Washington, as follows: Section 1. It is hereby found and declared that the welfare of t e students and other residents of the District requires the District to carry out the plans hereinafter provided. Section 2. In order to provide $600,000.00 for the General Fund of the District, a tax of approximately $2.16 per thousand of assessed valuation (based ❑n 100% of true and fair value) should be levied in 1988 for collection in 1989 upon all the taxable property within the District in excess of the maximum annual tax levy permitted by law to be levied for the District without a vote of the electors and that in order to provide $600,000.00 for the General Fund of the District, a tax of approximately $2.12 per thousand of assessed valuation (based on 100% of true and fair value) should he levied in 1989 for collection in 1990 upon all the taxable property within the District in excess of the maximum annual levy permitted by law to be levied for the District without a vote of the electors. Upon approval by the voters of Proposition No. 1 hereinafter set forth, the District may use the proceeds of such levies during the 1988-89, 1989-90 and 1990-91 school years by incurring an indebtedness by the issuance of warrants against the General Fund of the District, and may expend the proceeds of said levies to pay such part of the general expenses of maintenance of operations of the District as may be authorized or allowed by law for the use of excess levy funds. Section 3. It is hereby found and declared that an emergency exists requiring the submission to the qualified electors of the District of the proposition of whether or not such excess taxes should be levied in 1989 and 1990 for their ratification or rejection at a special election to be held herein on February 2, 1988.
