The WRIC is responsible for leading the effort to design and launch https://whatcomresources.org/ Whatcomresources.org is the new, searchable website that intends to provide free, equitable access to human, social and health services resource information in Whatcom County. This tool is live and useable to our community at this time. The data utility, designed and overseen by the WRIC, has a limited data set within it currently. There are 206 organizational records and just shy of 700 service records. These include Basic and Emergency Human Needs and Resources for people raising or caring for children ages 0 to 18, including child and youth mental health resources. Whatcom County, Chuckanut Health Foundation and Opportunity Council have funded the demonstration pilot to this point. EQUITY CONSIDERATIONS (include data or information about how topic impacts or could impact equity, including racial equity) As a source of free, equitable access to human, social and health services information in Whatcom County, the WRIC aims to serve BIPOC and/or vulnerable populations. BOARD ROLE / ACTION REQUESTED ATTACHMENT(S) None WHATCOM COUNTY . b HEALTH AND COMMUNITY SERVICES Page 2 of 4 HEALTH BOARD Discussion Form October 3, 2023 AGENDA ITEM #6: Work Plan for 2024 PRESENTERS: Erika Lautenbach BOARD ACTION: ❑ Action Item 0 Discussion ❑ FYI -Only Whatcom County faces many pressing health -related issues requiring government action in the form of policies, financial resources, partnerships, and community education. Given that the Health Board (HB) meets four times/year, developing a work plan will help in prioritizing topics and differentiating HB discussions from County Council committee discussions. Also, because HB meetings are joint with the Public Health Advisory Board (PHAB), staff seek input from both bodies on what topics are best for joint meetings and what topics are more appropriately heard in either PHAB or Council committees. After compiling and incorporating HB and PHAB member priorities, staff will present a final workplan at the January 2024 meeting. EQUITY CONSIDERATIONS (include data or information about how topic impacts or could impact equity, including racial equity) The 2024 workplan will likely include topics that have equity components through data, community partnership, support of existing efforts like the Whatcom Racial Equity Commission, and financial or other resource allocation to BIPOC and/or vulnerable populations. BOARD ROLE/ACTION REQUESTED Discuss potential options for HB/PHAB workplan and reach consensus on priority topics.
