Office of the Auditor of Whatcom County Bellinghdm, Washington November 16, 1981 - Pursuant to a notice given by Joan Ogden, County Auditor of Whatcom County, Washington, we the under signed, Don Hansey, Council Member and David'S. Mc Eachran, Prosecuting Attorney of -said County, now meet with Joan Ogden for the purpose of canvassing the votes cast in the County of Whatcom, at the General Election held on Tuesday, November 3, 1981 as shown on the poll books. That said statement and returns contain all the propositions and names of all contestants together with the title of the office sought and the number of votes received. That the total number of registered voters in'the voting -precincts of Whatcom County, as reported was 54,564, and the number voting at the polls was 22,372 and 2,219 by absentee ballots. What om County :1 t FIRE PROTECTION DISTRICT N0.6 WHATCOM COUNTY RESOLUTION NO.6 A resolution of the Board of Fire Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 6, providing for the submission to the qualified electors of the district at a special election to be held therein, in conjunction with the general election on November 3, 1981 of the proposition which would authorize lifting the 106% LID Law for Whatcom County Fire Protection Districts. WHEREAS, in the judgement of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the district, it is essential and necessary for the protection of the public health, life, and property, that necessary equipment be acquired to adequately supply the residdnts of said district with fire suppression capabilities. WHEREAS, the inflationary increase of operation has exceded the revenue, due to restrictions imposed by legislative action, from the property tax. THEREFORE, be it RESOLVED that the Board of Fire Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 6 submit a proposal to the qualified electors of said district requesting authorization to restore the $1.00 per thousand dollars of assessed valuation, which does not exceed the statutory limit authorizes by law, without a vote of the residnet electors of said district. ADOPTED at a special meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Whatcom County Fire Protection District No. 6 this 27th day of August, 1981. WHEREAS, in the judgment of the Board of Fire Commissioners of the District, it is essential and necessary for the protection of the public health, life and property, to better meet the increased operational and maintenance costs and to improve upon facilities, equipment and personnel to be able to meet the demand for improved services. For the purpose of providing funds to meet increased maintenance and operational costs and to naintain paid personnel to'provide panning during periods when volunteer firefighters are not available. - Section 2. For the purpose of providing funds to improve facili- ties and procure equipment to ,maintain the same level of services for all electors of the District. The funds realized from lifting the logo limitation shall be used for the above stated purposes. Section . The proposal., if authorized by the voters of Fire District 1;0. 13, will place approxir:ately 4 L14, 704.00 (Forty-four t:1ousand�Seven Hundred and Four Dollars), into the District's Expense �� and and will be paid by the property owners of the District at the rate of .30894 (thirty-eight nine four) cents Per $1,000.00 (One Thousand Dollars) of assessed valuation, increasing the levy rate from .49106 (sixty nine one zero six) cents per $1,000.00(One Thousand Dollars), to $1.00 (One Dollar Per $1,000.00 (One Thousand Dollars), of assessed valuation.
