HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978 November 07,1978 General, Special, Small TownOFFICIAL CANVASS OF THE COUNTY AND STATE GENERAL ELECTION HELD IN WHATCOM COUNTY, WASHINGTON ON TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 1978 Office of the Auditor of Whatcom County, Washington Bellingham, Washington November 20, 1978 Pursuant to a 40 tice given by Joan Ogden, County Auditor of Whatcom County, Washington, the undersigned, C. J. Johnson, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners of said Whatcom County, and David S. Mc Eachran, Prosecuting Attorney of said County, now meet with Peter Griffin, Deputy Auditor of said Whatcom County at the County Seat of said County on the 20th day of November, 1978, for the purpose of canvassing the votes cast in the voting precincts of Whatcom County on the 7th day of November, 1978, at the County and State General and Special Election. The total number of votes cast by absentee ballots was 3,049 as shown by the Poll Books of said Election in Volume 4, Pages 119 through 121 inclusive, Record of Votes Cast. Peter Griffin, Deputy Auditor as aforesaid, now makes oath as follows: STATE OF WASHINGTON COUNTY OF WHATCOM do of or ME OATH OF AUDITOR ss. The results of said canvass as found and determined by us is set forth herein and recorded in the Record of Votes Cast of Whatcom County, Washington. STATE OF WASHINGTON ss. COUNTY OF WHATCOM The undersigned, being the officers designated by the law and constituting the canvassing board in and for the County of Whatcom, State of Washington, hereby certify that the foregoing pages, Volume 4 Pages 119 through 121 inclusive, of the Record of Votes Cast, is a true and correct canvass of the votes polled in the County of Whatcom, State of Washington, in the County and State General and Special Election, which was held in the voting precincts of the County of Whatcom, the 7th day of November, 1978, as taken from the official returns. A board meeting of the Whatcom County Challenge Ballot Canvassing Authority was called on November 13, 1978 in the office of the Whatcom County Prosecuting Attorney. C. J. Johnson, County Commissioner, David Mc Eachran, County Prosecuting Attorney and Peter Griffin, County Election Supervisor were present. David S. Mc Eachran made a motion that Peter Griffin be appointed to the board to fill the vancancy left by Joan Ogden, Whatcom County Auditor. The motion was seconded by C. J. Johnson, motion carried.. By unanimous decision of the board, it was decided that ballots numbered 1, 6, 9, and 11 were deemed valid and to be counted. There were five ballots numbered 1, 11 numbered 6, two numbered 9, and 32 numbered 11. C. J. Johnson moved and declared that ballots numbered 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 be deemed invalid and not counted. Seconded by David S. Mc Eachran, motion carried. There were 7 ballots numbered 2, one numbered 3, 20 numbered 4, 11 numbered 5 and ten numbered 7. A motion was made by David S. Mc Eachran that ballots numbered 8, 10, 12, 13 and 14 be invalid and not counted. Seconded by Peter Griffin, motion carried. There were two ballots numbered 8, ten numbered 10, five numbered 12, three numbered 13 and one numbered 14.
