HomeMy WebLinkAbout1978 May 16,1978 Special (consolidation) Concrete School District 11OFFICIAL CANVASS OF THE SPECIAL ELECTION HELD IN HIGH CASCADE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 500, WHATCOM COUNTY, WASHINGTON ON TUESDAY THE 16TH DAY OF MAY, 1978 FOR THE PURPOSE OF SUBMITTING TO THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE DISTRICT THE QUESTION ON THE CONSOLIDATION OF HIGH CASCADE SCHOOL DISTRICT TO BE KNOWN AS CONCRETE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 11 AND THE ESTABLISH- MENT OF DIRECTOR DISTRICTS FOR CONCRETE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 11 Office of the Auditor of Whatcom County, Washington Bellingham, Washington May 18, 1978 Pursuant to a notice given by Joan Ogden, County Auditor of Whatcom County, Washington, we the undersigned, C: J. Johnson, Chairman of the Board of County Commissioners of said County, and David S. Mc Eachran, Prosecuting Attorney of said county, now meet with Joan Ogden, County Auditor of said County for the purpose of canvassing the votes cast in the voting precincts of High Cascade School District No. 500, Whatcom County, Washington as shown on the poll books of the High Cascade School District precincts. The total number of absentee votes cast in the High Cascade School District No. 500 was 0. Joan Ogden, County Auditor, as aforesaid, now makes oath as follows: STATE OF WASHINGTON) ss. Mc Eachran proceed as a canvassing board in and for Whatcom County to canvass the votes cast in all of the precincts of the said High Cascade School District No. 500 on May 16, 1978. COUNTY OF WHATCOM ) The undersigned, being the officers designated by the law and constituting the Canvassing Board in and for High.Cascade School District No. 500, Whatcom County, State of Washington, having met for for the purpose of canvassing the votes concerning the following propositions: PROPOSITION NO. 1 CONSOLIDATION OF CONCRETE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 102 AND HIGH CASCADE SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 500 Shall Concrete School District No. 102 and High Cascade School District No. 500 be consolidated into a new single school district to be known as Concrete School District No. 11 and which shall assume the assets and liabilities and any bonded indebtedness of such districts? YES NO % The result of said canvass as found and determined by us is set forth herein as follows: Total Votes Cast 29 Total Yes Votes 9 Total No Votes 20 We do hereby declare that said statement. and returns contain the number of votes cast for and against the foregoing propositions at the said election held May 16, 1978. ro�_ .-IhtlN Chairm a.rd of County Commissioners kud-itor Whatcom County �o. -yir r Prosecuting Attorne o.f Whatcom County RESOLUTION 78-6 Request That a Special Election be Held re Consolidation of High Cascades SD #500 and Concrete SD 4102 WHEREAS, The Skagit and Whatcom County Committee on School District Organization have approved the consolidation of High Cascades School District No. 500 and Concrete School District No. 102; and WHEREAS, The State Board of Education has approved the consolidation of the two districts; and WHEREAS, The Board of Directors of Educational Service District 189 finds that an emergency exists; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, That a special election relative to the consolidation of High Cascades School District No. 500 and Concrete School District No. 102 be held on May 16, 1978 and the Auditors of Whatcom and Skagit Counties are requested to hold a special election and give the legal notice of such as required by RCW 28A .57 .080; and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That a special election relative to the director districts of the newly -formed Concrete School District No. 11 be held on May 16, 1978 and the Auditors of Whatcom and Skagit Counties are re- quested to hold a special election and give .the legal notice of such as required by RCW 28A.57.080, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED That the Superintendent of Educational Service District 189 be directed to post notices of such special election as provided in RCW 28A.57.080. A copy of such notice of election containing a description of the boundaries of the proposed new district is attached hereto and is _ incorporated by reference as a part of this resolution.
