Roll Call
Committee Chair Kaylee Galloway called the meeting to order at 1:12 p.m.
in a hybrid meeting.
Present: 3 - Todd Donovan, Kaylee Galloway, and Mark Stremler
Also Present: Barry Buchanan, Ben Elenbaas, and Jon Scanlon

Special Presentation
1. A B2025-387 Presentation on the Whatcom Marine Resources Committee's 2024 annual report
Austin Rose, Public Works Department, read from a presentation (on file)
about the Marine Resources Committee (MRC), why they exist, how they
came to be, their key role and activities, and why they focus on the
Northwest Straights region.
The following MRC members also read from the presentation on MRC
programs and events:
• Glen Alexander ("Alex") reported on the Beach Seine with Kids
program.
• Richard Beauregard spoke about monitoring harmful algae blooms
Rose spoke about bull kelp monitoring and Olympia Oyster restoration in
Drayton Harbor. She and Beauregard answered whether they do any
monitoring in Point Roberts. Rose stated they are not doing water quality
monitoring in that area.
