6 INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS ON SOUTH PASS ROAD AT THE INTERSECTION
7 WITH GOODWIN ROAD AS WHATCOM COUNTY CODE 10.16.1720

10 WHEREAS, in compliance with RCW 36.32.120 and 46.61.200, it is found necessary
11 and expedient to install traffic control signs on certain County Roads; and
12
13 WHEREAS, the County Engineer has conducted an Engineering Traffic Study of the
14 intersection; and
15
16 WHEREAS, the County Engineer has determined that the Collision Warrant for the
17 installation of a Multi -Way Stop, as described in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control
18 Devices Section 2B.07, was met from the period of September 1st, 2023 through September
19 30th, 2024; and
20
21 WHEREAS, the County Engineer has determined that these collisions would be
22 susceptible to correction with the installation of a Multi -Way Stop; and
23
24 WHEREAS, the County Engineer has determined through Engineering Judgement
25 that an all -way stop should be established; and
26
27 WHEREAS, the County Engineer has agreed that it is necessary to formally establish
28 the new stop signs; and
29
30 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that stop
31 signs be established for:
32
33 1) Westbound traffic on South Pass Road at the intersection with Goodwin Road in
34 sections 27 and 34, Township 40 North, Range 4 East, W.M.
35
36 2) Eastbound traffic on South Pass Road at the intersection with Goodwin Road in
37 sections 28 and 33, Township 40 North, Range 4 East, W.M.

39 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, by the Whatcom County Council that the following be
40 added to the Whatcom County Code Section 10.16.1720:

BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install
the appropriate signs and the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol be
notified by a copy of this ordinance.
