ORDINANCE NO. 2024-048
ORDINANCE RELATING TO THE ANNUAL SUBMISSION OF TAXING DISTRICT LEVY
AMOUNTS TO THE WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL
WHEREAS, pursuant to the provisions of RCW 84.52.020, each taxing district is
required to file its budget with the county legislative authority on or before November 30;
and
WHEREAS, the County Council will certify to the Assessor, on or before the first
Monday in December, the amount of taxes levied by the board of each taxing district for the
following year as stated in RCW 84.52.070;
WHEREAS, taxing districts are currently submitting levy amounts in various,
sometimes confusing formats; and
WHEREAS, submitting levy amounts in a uniform format will create less chance of
error when certifying levy amounts to the Assessor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that all
taxing districts will be required to submit levy amounts in a standard format, the
Washington State Department of Revenue's most current levy certification form.
