Executive INTRODUCTION DATE: 05/07/24 ORDINANCE NO. 2024-032 ORDINANCE AMENDING THE PROJECT BUDGET FOR THE LAKE WHATCOM PARK TRAIL DEVELOPMENT FUND, REQUEST NO. 3 WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 2016-056 established the project budget to develop trails in Lookout Mountain Forest Preserve and Lake Whatcom Park Recreational Trail Plan; and WHEREAS, a previous amendment also added budget authority for Lake Whatcom Park trailhead improvements including the connection of the Chanterelle Trail to the Hertz Trail, and WHEREAS, an additional $71,500 is currently needed to complete preliminary design and public outreach for trailhead improvements at Lake Whatcom Park, and WHEREAS, this work includes staff time, consultant fees for trail improvements to the Hertz Trail and public outreach to solicit comments for desired improvements, environmental protection and recreational access, and WHEREAS, funding is available from Real Estate Excise Tax II Fund to provide additional support to the project budget, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that Ordinance 2016-056 is hereby amended by adding $71,500 of expenditure authority, as described in Exhibit A, to the current project budget of $958,025, for a total amended project budget of $1,029,525.
