ORDINANCE NO. 2024-002
AMENDMENT NO. 17 OF THE 2023 BUDGET
WHEREAS, the 2023-2024 budget was adopted November 22, 2022; and,
WHEREAS, Whatcom County Council considered the acquisition of 6324 Saxon Road on July
25th, 2023, AB2023-449, and approved a motion forward with and complete the acquisition of the
property as long as the purchase price does not exceed the amount discussed in Executive Session;
and,
WHEREAS, the Purchases and Sales Agreement was signed on August 10th, 2023 with the
property owner that has committed and obligated the County to purchases the subject property; and,
WHEREAS, Whatcom County Council passed Ordinance 2023-071 on November 21 st, 2023 that
authorized an interfund loan for the purchase of 6324 Saxon Road from General Fund to
Conservation Futures Fund; and,
WHEREAS, the Administration prepared a budget supplemental that was to be considered by
Council on November 21st, 2023, although, due to oversight, the supplemental was not considered
by Council; and,
WHEREAS, this ordinance is to provide 2023 expenditure authority in the Conservation Futures
Fund to acquire the property at 6324 Saxon Road as has been committed, obligate by the County;
and,
WHEREAS, changing circumstances require modifications to the approved 2023-2024 budget;
and,
WHEREAS, the modifications to the budget have been assembled here for deliberation by the
Whatcom County Council,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the 2023-2024
Whatcom County Budget Ordinance #2022-070 is hereby amended by adding the following additional
amounts to the 2023 budget included therein:
