12 WHEREAS, Paul Davis has devoted forty-seven years to the service of Lummi Island as Treasurer
13 of the Lummi Island Community Association; and
14
15 WHEREAS, Mr. Davis also served the Lummi Island Library's, Friends of the Island Library as
16 Treasurer for thirty years; and
17
18 WHEREAS, Mr. Davis produced the Island Newsletter, later named the Lummi Island Tome for
19 decades, keeping residents informed of news and items of local interest; and
20
21 WHEREAS, Mr. Davis continues in his vital service editing and producing the Brown Betty
22 electronic newsletter, apprising island residents of urgent and timely information of vital interest to
23 them; and
24
25 WHEREAS, Mr. Davis has served as a cherished and respected supporter of the Beach
26 Elementary School and the community at large for the better part of his life; and
27
28 WHEREAS, on March 7, 2023 the Lummi Island Community Association committed to create,
29 install and maintain a sign for the central orchard space of the Ferry parking area. And the Whatcom
30 County Public Works Department agreed to review and approve the style and placement of the sign;
31 and
32
33 WHEREAS, on March 7, 2023 the Lummi Island Community Association committed to pay for the
34 creation and installation of the roadway sign at the driveway entrance to the parking lot. And the
35 Whatcom County Public Works Department agreed to create and install the sign in honorary road name
36 design as stated in WCC 12.60.150.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the orchard area of
the Lummi Island Ferry parking lot is given the honorary name of "Paul Davis Park". Moreover, be it
ordained the driveway of the parking lot is given the honorary name of "Paul Davis Parkway".
ADOPTED this 26th day of September, 2023.
