ORDINANCE NO. 2023 - 050
ESTABLISHING PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON SAMISH WAY
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.570 to restrict
parking on certain County Roads; and
WHEREAS, the City of Bellingham and Whatcom Mountain Bike Coalition have
collaborated on the creation of a new parking lot for the Galbraith Mountain Trail System; and
WHEREAS, Whatcom County has committed to installing a crosswalk on Samish Way in
the vicinity of the new parking lot; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that a "No
Parking Anytime" zone is established 500 feet east of Galbraith Lane and 500 feet west of
Galbraith Lane on the south side of the road located in Sections 15, and 16, Township 37 North,
Range 3 East, W.M.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, by the Whatcom County Council that the following be
added to Whatcom County Code Section 10.24:
10.24.270 Samish Way.
A "No Parking Anytime" zone is established on Samish Way as follows: 500 feet east of
Galbraith Lane to 500 feet west of Galbraith Lane on the south side of the road.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install the
appropriate signage and the Whatcom County Sheriff and Washington State Patrol be notified by
a copy of this ordinance.
