RESOLUTION NO. 2023 - 014
A RESOLUTION ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE UNIFIED FEE SCHEDULE INCREASING
FEES AT THE BIRCH BAY LYNDEN ROAD AND CEDARVILLE DROP BOX FACILITIES
WHEREAS, the 2023 Unified Fee Schedule was adopted by County Council through
Ordinance No. 2022-090; and
WHEREAS, Whatcom County Health and Community Services received notification from
Sanitary Service Company (SSC) that the garbage and recycle fees would incur modest
increases; and
WHEREAS, rates at this facility have not been adjusted since 2008; and
WHEREAS, SSC has experienced a 40% increase in labor costs and a 36% increase in
garbage disposal rates; and
WHEREAS, Health and Community Services has agreed to the increased fees to ensure
continued waste management services in this part of the county; and
WHEREAS, the lease agreement with SSC requires any proposed rate adjustment to be
forwarded to County Council for final action;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that that the 2023
Unified Fee Schedule adopted through Ordinance 2022-090 shall be amended to include the
following fees to be listed under the heading of Health - Solid Waste:
