Committee Member Kathy Kershner called the meeting to order at 1:24
mm. in a hvbrid meetine.
Present: 3 - Kaylee Galloway, Kathy Kershner, and Carol Frazey
Absent: None
Also Present: Barry Buchanan, Tyler Byrd, Todd Donovan, and Ben Elenbaas
Announcements
Special Order of Business
1. AB2023-049 Nomination and appointment of Committee Chair
Galloway moved that Kershner be NOMINATED AND APPOINTED. The
motion carried by the following vote:
Aye: 3 - Galloway, Kershner, and Frazey
Nay: 0
Absent: 0
Kershner was appointed as Committee Chair and continued the meeting.
Special Presentations
1. AB2022-7,06 Update from Whatcom County Medical Examiner Allison Hunt, M.D.
This agenda item was WITHDRAWN.
2. AB2022-669. Presentation from Health Department on Opioid Settlement
The following people presented:
• Greg Thompson, Co -Health Officer
• Joe Fuller, Health Department
Fuller answered questions about whether fentanyl deaths in the county have
gone up even more in 2022 than the latest data we have for 2021, whether
there are more pending settlements after these initial ones, one suit in
which the Attorney General went a different direction than most other
states, and whether we will only be getting $300,000 per year for 18 years
with this settlement.
