ORDINANCE NO. 2022-052
ORDINANCE AMENDING THE SHALLOW SHORE CULVERT
RELOCATION FUND, REQUEST NO. 1
WHEREAS, the Shallow Shore Culvert Relocation project is listed as
item number 1 for the Lake Samish Basin on the 2022-2027 Six -Year Water
Resources Improvement Program, with an anticipated total cost of $395,000,
and
WHEREAS, this project will relocate the existing outfall at 326 Shallow
Shore Road to a more suitable location three hundred feet north where an
undeveloped county road (Bass Street) will provide a new discharge site to
Lake Samish, and
WHEREAS, relocation of the existing outfall will resolve the chronic
flooding of several lots adjacent to and including the lot at 326 Shallow Shore
Road, and
WHEREAS, the initial funding request in 2020 for $100,000 was used
to cover the design and permitting -related costs of the project, and
WHEREAS, the construction -related expenses for this project are
estimated at $295,000, and
WHEREAS, these additional expenses will be funded from Real Estate
Excise Tax II funds,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County
Council that Ordinance No. 2020-071 is hereby amended to add $295,000 of
expenditure authority, as described in Exhibit A, to the current project
budget of $100,000, for a total amended project budget of $395,000.
ADOPTED this 21st day of June 2022.
