ORDINANCE NO. 2022-024
TEMPORARY INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS ON SOUTH PASS ROAD
WHEREAS, in compliance with RCW 46.61.200 and 47.36.110, it is found necessary and
expedient to install traffic control signs on certain County Roads; and
WHEREAS, due to recent severe weather and associated heavy rains, there was a slope
failure to a portion of South Pass Road, and it was determined that a one lane road is needed on
South Pass Road from 707 feet east of North Pass Road to 1010 feet east of North Pass Road,
with stop control at each end; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that temporary
stop signs be installed on South Pass Road, eastbound, 707 feet easterly of North Pass Road,
and westbound, 1010 feet easterly of North Pass Road, located within Section 26, Township 40
North, Range 4 East, W.M.; and
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that when the repairs to South Pass Road are completed,
the temporary stop signs will be removed; and
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install the
appropriate signs and the Whatcom County Sheriff and Washington State Patrol be notified by a
copy of this ordinance.
