Ordinance establishing a speed limit on Northshore Road
SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:
To comply with RCW 46.61.415, at the direction of the County Council, the Public Works
Department and Whatcom County Sheriff's Office request the County Council adopt the proposed
ordinance to establish a speed limit of 30 MPH on Northshore Road, from the intersection with
Northshore Road to the easterly side of Smith Creek.

6 ESTABLISHING A SPEED LIMIT FOR A PORTION OF NORTHSHORE ROAD

8 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to establish
9 speed limits on certain County Roads; and
10
11 WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Sheriff's Office has requested that a speed limit be
12 established in this area; and
13
14 WHEREAS, the County Engineer has agreed that it is necessary to formally establish the
15 speed limit; and
16
17 NOW, THEREFOR, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the speed
18 limit be established as follows:
19 30 mph on Northshore Road, from the intersection with Northshore Road to the easterly
20 side of Smith Creek, located in Sections 5 and 4, Township 37 North, Range 4 East, W.M.
21 and Sections 32 and 33, Township 38 North, Range 4 East, W.M.; and

23 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, by the Whatcom County Council that Whatcom County
24 Code Section 10.04.040 is amended as follows:

26 10.04.040 Thirty miles per hour.
27 NORTHSHORE ROAD. Northshore Road from the intersection with Northshore Road to the
28 easterly side of Smith Creek located in Sections 5 and 4, Township 37 North, Range 4
29 East, W.M. and Sections 32 and 33, Township 38 North, Range 4 East, W.M.

31 BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install the
