SUMMARY STATEMENT OR LEGAL NOTICE LANGUAGE:
Public Works respectfully requests that the County Council adopt the proposed ordinance to install
temporary stop signs on Marshall Hill Road until the road repairs for the fill slope failure are complete

ORDINANCE NO. 2021-009
TEMPORARY INSTALLATION OF STOP SIGNS ON MARSHALL HILL ROAD
WHEREAS, in compliance with RCW 46.61.200 and 47.36.110, it is found necessary and
expedient to install traffic control signs on certain County Roads; and
WHEREAS, due to recent severe weather, and associated heavy rains, there was a fill
slope failure to a portion of Marshall Hill Road, and it was determined that a one lane road is
needed on Marshall Hill Road from 940 feet to 1140 feet east of Cronk Road with stop control at
each end; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that temporary
stop signs be installed on Marshall Hill Road, eastbound at 940 feet easterly of Cronk Road, and
westbound 1140 feet easterly of Cronk Road, located within Section 32, Township 39 North,
Range 5 East, W.M.; and
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that when the repairs to Marshall Hill Road are completed,
the temporary stop signs will be removed; and
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to install the
appropriate signs and the Whatcom County Sheriff be notified by a copy of this ordinance.
ADOPTED this 9th day of March , 2021.
