Call To Order
Roll Call
Committee Chair Todd Donovan called the meeting to order at 8:45 a.m. in
a virtual meeting.
Present: 3 - Todd Donovan, Ben Elenbaas and Carol Frazey
Absent: None
Also Present: Rud Browne, Barry Buchanan, and Kathy Kershner
Special Presentation
1. AB2020-544 Update on the Firewise Program
Jenny Coe, Whatcom Conservation District, gave a presentation and
answered how many volunteers they have and whether there is a lot of
community input for their programs, how comprehensive the risk
assessment site work is in neighborhoods and how much time it takes,
whether there are areas to which they do not want to add wood chips so as
not to increase fire risk, and whether there is any guidance in their program
for using grazing to help with fire danger.
The following people also spoke about using grazing for wildfire reduction:
• Satpal Sidhu, County Executive
• George Boggs, Whatcom Conservation District
