Call To Order
Roll Call
Committee Chair Todd Donovan called the meeting to order at 11 a.m. in the Council
Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, Washington.
Present: 3 - Barry Buchanan, Todd Donovan and Satpal Sidhu
Absent: None
Also Present: Barbara Brenner, Carol Frazey

1. AB2019-556 Report from Whatcom County's Parks and Recreation Department

Mike McFarlane, Parks and Recreation Department Director, submitted and gave a
presentation (on file) about recently completed projects including Lake Whatcom
park trails; Lighthouse Marine Park update; Silver Lake Park and Maple Creek
Campground tree removal, self -registration station, and various other improvements;
Senior Day at Hovander Homestead Park; and a summary of both current and
upcoming projects. He answered questions about the number of contractors that
worked on the Maple Creek Campground that were local, whether Silver Lake Park
is still open to parking for equestrian trailers, and the Parks Department's use of an
electric bike for maintenance or emergencies on trails where motorized vehicles are
currently not allowed.
This agenda item was REPORTED.
Councilmembers thanked the Parks Department for their work at Silver Lake Park.
The meeting adjourned at 11:22 a.m.
