Committee Chair Tyler Byrd called the meeting to order at 2:40 p.m. in the Council
Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, Washington.
ROLL CALL
Present: Barbara Brenner, Tyler Byrd, and Todd Donovan
Absent: None
Also Present: Rud Browne, Barry Buchanan, Carol Frazey, and Satpal Sidhu
COMMITTEE DISCUSSION
1. AB2019-317 DISCUSSION OF PROPOSED ORDINANCE AMENDING WCC
CHAPTERS 20.51 AND 20.71 PERTAINING TO TREE REMOVAL PERMIT
PROCEDURES, AND CHAPTER 23.10 UPDATING THE REFERENCED CRITICAL
AREAS ORDINANCE IN THE SHORELINE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM
The following Planning and Development Services Department staff reported and
answered questions:
• Cliff Strong
• Ryan Erickson
Councilmembers and staff discussed defining trees by size, whether a tree can be
topped, and hazard tree removal.
