An increase in the petty cash fund is necessary for the Sheriff's Office to have adequate change

INCREASING SHERIFF'S OFFICE PETTY CASH FUND
WHEREAS, it is necessary for the Sheriff's Office to maintain a petty cash fund in
order to have change available when receipting payments from customers; and
WHEREAS, the Sheriff's Office petty cash fund of $60 was approved October 17,
1968 to have change available when receipting payments from customers; and
WHEREAS, the current petty cash fund amount of $60 is not sufficient to have
adequate change available to conduct daily transactions.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED by the Whatcom County Council that the
petty cash fund for the Sheriff's Office is hereby increased from $60 to $300 in order to
maintain 3 separate $100 cash drawers for the sole purpose of providing change when
receipting payments from customers.
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the Whatcom County Treasurer shall follow
current county policy to accomplish this increase.
