HISTORY OF LEGISLATIVE FILE Date: Acting Body: 03/26/2019 Council Action: APPROVED Attachments: Resolution in support of House Bill 1023, House Bill 1023 Sent To: Final Action: 03/26/2019 Enactment Date: 03/26/2019 Enactment #: RES 2019-019 Whatcom County Page 1 Printed on 312712019 PROPOSED BY: BRENNER INTRODUCTION DATE: MARCH 26, 2019 RESOLUTION NO. 2019-019 SUPPORTING HOUSE BILL 1023, ALLOWING CERTAIN ADULT FAMILY HOMES TO INCREASE BED CAPACITY FROM SIX TO EIGHT WHEREAS, adult family homes are community -based facilities licensed to care for individuals who need long-term care; and WHEREAS, these homes provide room, board, necessary supervision, assistance with daily activities, and personal care; and WHEREAS, adult family homes are licensed by the Department of Social and Health Services and must meet facility standards as well as training requirements for resident managers and caregivers; and WHEREAS, adult family homes are currently allowed to care for up to six adults who are not related by blood or marriage to the person or persons providing services; and WHEREAS, House Bill 1023 would allow adult family homes to provide services for up to eight adults upon approval by the Department of Social and Health Services; and WHEREAS, there is an ever-increasing need in our community for access to adult family homes. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Whatcom County Council strongly supports House Bill 1023 to increase the allowable bed capacity in adult family homes from six to A 5QPT � th s ' day of March , 2019.
