CALL TO ORDER
Committee Chair Tyler Byrd called the meeting to order at 2:30 p.m. in the Council
Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, Washington.
ROLL CALL
Present: Barbara Brenner, Tyler Byrd, and Todd Donovan
Absent: None
Also Present: Tim Ballew, Rud Browne, Barry Buchanan, and Satpal Sidhu
COMMITTEE DISCUSSION
1. DISCUSSION OF A PROPOSED ORDINANCE ADOPTING AMENDMENTS TO THE
POINT ROBERTS AND WISER LAKE LAMIRD REQUIREMENTS (ORDINANCE
SCHEDULED FOR INTRODUCTION THIS EVENING) (AB2018 -177)
Matt Aamot, Planning and Development Services Department, submitted and read
from a presentation (on file) and answered questions on the limited areas of more intense
rural development (LAMIRDs).
The following staff answered questions:
• Karen Frakes, Prosecutor's Office
• Nick Smith, Planning and Development Services Department
Staff and councilmembers discussed the source of the proposals, whether a marine
repair use is separate from an auto equipment repair use, whether the square footage can
change from the 1990 level of square footage, having more detailed discussion in executive
session, the thresholds per parcel within the LAMIRDs,
Brenner moved to recommend the Planning Commission recommendation to the
County Council.
The motion to amend carried by the following vote:
Ayes: Brenner, Byrd, and Donovan (3)
Nays: None (0)
OTHER BUSINESS
There was no other business.
