CALL TO ORDER
Committee Chair Todd Donovan called the meeting to order at 9:30 a.m. in the
Council Chambers, 311 Grand Avenue, Bellingham, Washington.

Also Present: Barbara Brenner, Tyler Byrd, and Barry Buchanan
SPECIAL PRESENTATION
1. REPORT FROM WHATCOM COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION (AB2018 -066)
Mike McFarlane, Parks and Recreation Department Director, submitted handouts (on
file) and gave a staff report on volunteer programs, community partners, senior services,
interlocal agreements for senior services, a survey of senior center services, and capital
projects. He answered questions.
Councilmembers and staff discussed senior center services for non - English speaking
citizens, survey respondents in Point Roberts, the location and use of the Welcome Center,
lunch services at the senior centers, sliding fee schedules and memberships, improvements
to the Plantation Rifle Range, and radio towers on Lookout Mountain.
OTHER BUSINESS
There was no other business.
