PROPOSED BY: INTRODUCTION DATE: RESOLUTION NO. 2018 -006 Council FEBRUARY 27, 2018 AMENDING RESOLUTION 2017 -055 TO ADD ONE REPRESENTATIVE FROM THE PORT OF BELLINGHAM TO THE HOMELESS STRATEGIES WORKGROUP WHEREAS, on October 14, 2017, the Whatcom County Council approved Resolution 2017 -055, establishing a Homeless Strategies Workgroup (HSW) to assist in identifying approximately two to three alternative solutions to living unsheltered in Whatcom County, with priority given to solutions that can be initiated to prevent people from having no other option than to sleep outside as the weather gets cold; and WHEREAS, the HSW is made up of the following members: • Whatcom County Executive or Designee • City of Bellingham Mayor or Designee • Two Whatcom County Council Members • Two Bellingham City Council Members • Representative from the Downtown Bellingham Partnership • Representative from the Opportunity Council • Representative from Northwest Youth Services • Representative from Lighthouse Mission Ministries • Representative from the Bellingham /Whatcom Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, the HSW has requested that Council add one representative from the Port of Bellingham to its membership. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Whatcom County Council that Resolution 2017 -055 is hereby amended to add one representative from the Port of Bellingham to the Homeless Strategies Workgroup.
