To comply with RCW 46.61.415, it is found necessary and expedient to reduce the speed limit on a portion of
Samish Way from 500 ft. east of Galbraith Ln. to the Bellingham City limits.

ORDINANCE NO. 2015 -039
TO ESTABLISH A REDUCED SPEED LIMIT ON A PORTION OF SAMISH WAY
WHEREAS, the Whatcom County Council is authorized under RCW 46.61.415 to
establish speed limits on certain County roads; and
Whereas, the use of Samish Way as a trailhead has greatly increased in the past few
years; and
Whereas, development of a parking lot/ trailhead is currently being developed but is still
a few years from being available; and
Whereas, the adjacent community requested additional measures to enhance the safety
of the area,
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED that the speed limit be changed and established as
follows:
35 mph on Samish Way from 500 feet east of Galbraith Lane to Bellingham City Limits
BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED that the County Engineer is hereby directed to post the
appropriate signs and that the Whatcom County Sheriff and the Washington State Patrol be
notified by a copy of this ordinance.
Provisions of this ordinance are hereby changed and added to Whatcom County Code,
Sections 10.04.050.
