HomeMy WebLinkAboutCounty Council for November 23 1983WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL Minutes -- November 23, 1983 The Whatcom County Council convened on Wednesday, November 23, 1983 at 7:45 p.m. with all members present except Van Zanten. HEARING Hearing was declared open in the matter of the ORDINANCE IN THE MATTER OF THE ADOPTION OF THE FINAL BUDGET OF WHATCOM COUNTY FOR THE YEAR 1984 AND RESTRICTING THE EXPENDITURE OF CERTAIN FUNDS THEREIN. The following testimony was received: Ray Fann -Spoke to the Noxious Weed Control 5155 Graveline Rd. Board's Budget. Stated the Pro - Ferndale, WA fessional Services category has been increased due to an increase in the use of the Soil Conserva- tions professional services. Also the $400 for insurance has not been expended from the budget in the past. Should this be in the budget at all? Wayne Larson -Feels a freeze should be placed on Thorton Road hiring personnel. Accused employees Ferndale, WA of drinking on the job. The Chair will pursue this matter. Clara Wieland - Requested the County to improve 4041 Tart Rd. roads. Spoke to 2/10 tax for Blaine, WA Senior Services. Questioned the $150,000 allocation for the Mt. Baker Theatre. No further testimony was received and the hearing was closed. Chair Cole stated the Finance Committee will continue review of the budget, with final consideration by the Council to be scheduled for November 29, 1983.
