HomeMy WebLinkAboutSpecial Council for August 11 1983WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL PUBLIC HEARING Minutes August 11, 1983 The Whatcom County Council Public Hearing regarding the Urban Fringe Subarea was called to order on Thursday, August 11, 1983 at 7:41 p.m. by Chairperson Cole with Johnson, Roehl, Hansey, and Van Zanten present. Also present were Bill Trimm, Planning Director, and Donovan Kehrer, Building and Codes. PUBLIC HEARING IN THE MATTER OF MODIFICATIONS /REVISIONS TO THE PROPOSED URBAN FRINGE SUBAREA COMPREHENSIVE PLAN AND MAP Public Hearing was declared open and the following testimony was received: Bill Trimm, Planning Director Bob Andersen 203 W. Concerned with SLM west of airport -- preferred residential. Nadine Swanson *Resubmitted updated petition to designate Curtis Road area R2A with existing businesses remaining under grandfather clause J.S. Martin In favor of SLM, against General 1607 Country Lane Manufacturing Joe Roberts Concerned that 1969 planning effort 4248 VanHorn Lane will be ignored. In favor of light industrial. Vincent Martin In favor of SLM or Light Industrial 1366 Country Lane Bill Chambers West Bakerview area - -in favor of 2124 Park St. Council's proposed revision. Opposed Bellingham, WA to increase in open space require- ment from 15% to 35%. Al Weivoda Petitioned 146 property owners on 4549 Guide Meridian Guide; 138 signed in favor of general commercial. *submitted petition Gary Orr Asked Council to review his property, Rep. Pacific Concrete which the Board of Equalization told him would be zoned 1 dwelling per five acres Bob Andersen Requested that Tull be given first response at next hearing No further testimony was given.
