WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL
Special Council Meeting
Minutes -- October 9, 1984
The Whatcom County Council was called to order for a Special
Council Meeting on Thursday, October 9, 1984, at 8:00 p.m. by
Acting Chairman William P. Roehl with all members present except
Cole and Johnson.
REVIEW OF THE PROPOSED TELEPHONE STUDY
County Executive Van Zanten briefed the Council on the
background of the telephone study, as well as highlighted the
data that was relevant to finances and budgeting.
Sarah Johnston, who was on the Joint Committee overseeing
the consultant's work, answered Council members' questions
regarding the report.
HANSEY'. MOVED THAT THE COUNCIL AUTHORIZE THE COUNTY
EXECUTIVE TO INSTRUCT THE CONSULTANT TO DEVELOP AN RFP (REQUEST
FOR PROPOSALS) FOR A PRIVATELY OWNED TELEPHONE SYSTEM FOR WHATCOM
COUNTY IN COOPERATION WITH THE CITY OF BELLINGHAM AND TO COMMENCE
WITH THE CONTRACTING WITH THE SUCCESSFUL PROPOSER.
The motion carried unanimously.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
