HomeMy WebLinkAboutLaw and Justice Committee July 31 1984LAW AND JUSTICE COMMITTEE Minutes - July 31, 1984 The Law and Justice Committee was called to order on Tuesday, July 31, 1984 at 1:10 p.m. by Chairperson Johnson with all members present. Also present were Dave Langford, Fire Marshall; Don Flesher, citizen; and Andy Fernando, Bellingham Herald. DISCUSSION REGARDING FIRE WORKS Mr. Flesher referred to a State Fire Marshall notice which delineates which fireworks may be lawfully purchased, possessed or discharged by the public, and which fireworks are unlawful to purchase, possess or discharge at any time. Mr. Flesher stated that he is opposed to the discharge of fireworks and has been annoyed with the use of fireworks near his residence located on Yew Street Road and Bennett Road. Mr. Flesher stated that he is prepared to work on seeing that the laws governing the use of fireworks are enforced, and that he will report his progress back to the Law and Justice Committee. Hansey requested Dave Langford, Fire Marshall, to contact the State Fire Marshall's office and request information on what other jurisdictions have done regarding the discharge of illegal fire works. Hawley questioned if received regarding the closing crossing. Chairperson Johnson been received.
