OTHER BUSINESS
Ben Hinkle, representing a cause known as "Honest Money
for America ", made a presentation in support of this movement,
whose goal is to help lower the national deficit. Mr. Hinkle
stated that this goal could be achieved through public awareness
of the fact that when paper money is issued, interest must be
paid on it as opposed to the issuance of coin, which is debt
free.
Mr. Hinkle asked the committee to draft a resolution
declaring the week of Februarv_12 - 19, 1984 as "Debt__Money ___
Awareness'Week," which will advocate the use of coin during
tliis _'period rather than the use of currency.
It was the consensus of the Law and Justice Committee to
have Mr. Hinkle present this cause during the Open Session
portion of the agenda at the February 2, 1984 Council meeting
as there would not be enough time to draft a resolution, pre-
sent it to the Council and have it ready in time to declare
the week of February 12 - 19, 1984 "Debt Money Awareness Week."
Meeting was adjourned at 3:55 p.m.
