Minutes -- August 2, 1984
The Committee -of- the -Whole meeting was called to order on Thursday,
August 2, 1984 at 6:46 p.m. by Chairperson Cole with all members present except
Becker.
PRESENTATION - SOLID WASTE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
Bob Jurica, Assistant County Engineer, presented the proposed Whatcom
County Solid Waste Comprehensive Plan. Mr. Jurica stated that solicitation of
proposed amendments to the comprehensive plan is the first step in finalizing
the plan. The plan would then be reviewed by all the cities and towns in the
unincorporated areas of Whatcom County, and then adopted by resolution. Mr.
Jurica hopes to finalize the plan by the first week in September, and those
cities and towns adopting the amended plan, will then be eligible for Department
of Ecology grant funding.
Mr. Jurica solicited comments and input from Councilmembers regarding
proposed amendments to the comprehensive plan. A discussion was held regarding
the use of recycling.
Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p.m.
