WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL
SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING
Minutes -- August 15, 1985
The Whatcom County Council Special Council meeting was
called to order at 2:30 p.m. by Chairman Roehl with all members
present except Johnson.
BID AWARD FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES CONTRACT
Chairman Roehl explain,eO the background on the bid award for
a professional services contract and turned the meeting over to
Becker, Chairperson of the Finance Committee.
Becker explained the background further and stated that the
1 recommendation was to enter' into a professional services contract
with Lee Corkrum, attorney with the firm of Ogden, Ogden and
Murphy.
BECKER MOVED THAT THE COUNTY EXECUTIVE BE AUTHORIZED TO
ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT FOR PROFESSIONAL�SERVICES WITH LEE
CORKRUM OF OGDEN, OGDEN AND MURPHY, AS PROVIDED IN THE DRAFT
AGREEMENT, AND THAT MINOR ADJUSTMENTS BE AUTHORIZED IN THE
AGREEMENT TO BE MADE BY CHAIRMAN ROEHL AND TAKE WHATEVER ACTION
IS NECESSARY TO IMPLEMENT THE CONTRACT.
Becker spoke to the motion.
There was discussion on the motion.
Cole spoke in support of the motion.
Muenscher spoke against the motion.
There was further discussion on the motion.
Becker restated the motion.
HANSEY MOVED TO AMEND EXHIBIT "A" OF THE DRAFT AGREEMENT
WITH THE FOLLOWING:
In (a), strike the remainder of the sentence after the word
"case"
Hansey spoke to the motion to amend.
Becker spoke to the language in Exhibit "A ", (a).
Cole proposed a friendly amendment as follows:
Exhibit "A ", (a), after the word "handled" delete the words

"by the Prosecuting Attorney and the firm acting as special
deputy" and add in their place the words "and how the County
can best further its interests in connection therewith"
Becker spoke in support of Cole's friendly amendment.
Cole spoke in support of the friendly amendment.
Hansey's motion to amend, including Cole's friendly amend-
ment, carried.
COLE MOVED TO AMEND EXHIBIT "A" AS FOLLOWS:

related litigation"
In (b), after the word "case" add the following words "and
related litigation"
11 dole's motion to amend carried.
The main motion as amended carried.
The meeting was adjourned at 3:15 p.m.
