HomeMy WebLinkAboutPlanning and Development September 5 1985WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL Planning and Development Committee Minutes -- September 5, 1985 The Whatcom County Council Planning and Development Commit- tee was called to order at 6:40 p.m. by Chairperson Muenscher, with Committee member Johnson present. Also in attendance were Sandy Palm, Planning Department, and Ralph Miner, citizen. PETITION FOR ROAD VACATION OF A PORTION OF 8TH STREET, FILED BY FLOYD SANDELL Sandy Palm reported that the Planning Department had reviewed the petition for the vacation of a portion of 8th Street filed by Floyd Sandell, and that the Planning Department had no objection to the proposed vacation. There was discussion on the petition for road vacation. JOHNSON MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE PETITION FOR ROAD VACATION OF A PORTION OF 8TH STREET FILED BY FLOYD SANDELL, ON THE CONDITION THAT THE COUNCIL'S ATTORNEY HAS NO FURTHER EVIDENCE CONTRARY TO THE APPROVAL OF THE PETITION. The motion carried. Sandy Palm explained the background on the petition for road vacation of a portion of Highland Drive and Echo Place filed by Fred Boettner. There was discussion on the petition. Council's attorney has written the petitioner's attorney requesting that a petition with the signatures of ten freeholders be turned into the Council, however no reply from the petitioner's attorney has been received. JOHNSON MOVED TO HOLD THIS ITEM IN COMMITTEE UNTIL THE PETITION WITH THE SIGNATURES OF TEN FREEHOLDERS IS TURNED INTO THE COUNCIL OFFICE. Ralph Miner, 63 Strawberry Point, stated that he is neither for nor against the petition until the petition is received, but that until the petition is received, he objects to any further proceedings on this matter. There was further discussion on the motion.
