HomeMy WebLinkAboutPlanning and Development December 9 1985WHATCOM COUNTY COUNCIL PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MINUTES December 19, 1985 The Whatcom County Council Planning and Development Commit- tee was called to order at 6;35 p.m. by Chairperson Muenscher with all members in attendance. Also in attendance were Paul Rushing, Public Works Department; Bill Trimm, Planning Director; and Wally Markwood. CORRESPONDENCE RECEIVED FROM WALLY AND DELORES MARKWOOD Mr. Wally Markwood explained the background on his request for rezoning the five acres he owns on the Guide Meridian Road. Bill Trimm suggested that Mr. Markwood apply for a zoning change and that he apply at the Building and Codes Administra- tion /Planning Department office and complete an application for a Comprehensive Text Amendment, Map Amendment and Zoning Map Amendment for the intersection on the corner of the Smith and Guide Meridian Roads. Mr. Trimm also stated that a petition from the property owners in that area supporting the rezoning would be needed. Corkey Johnson spoke to the issue. ROEHL MOVED THAT THE COMMITTEE REQUEST BILL TRIM TO PUT THE NECESSARY DOCUMENTS TOGETHER TO INTRODUCE TO THE COUNCIL AND THEN REFER TO THE PLANNING COMMISSION. The motion carried. RESOLUTION RELINQUISHING A LEASE OF EASEMENT FOR RIGHTS -OF -WAX WHARF SITE OVER ANQ ACROSS CERTAIN LAKE WHATCOM SHORELANDS Mr. Paul Rushing explained the background on this resolu- tion, stating that an easement cannot be sub- leased. JOHNSON MOVED THAT RECOMMENDATION BE MADE TO THE FULL COUNCIL TO GIVE THE EASEMENT BACK TO THE DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES. The motion carried. CONSIDERATION OF THE OPEN SPACE TIMBER APPLICATION FILED BY TERRY AND DEBBIE JOHNSON Bill Trimm, Planning Director, stated that this item should not have been on the agenda since the Planning and Development Committee had already recommended approval subject to receipt of the Timber Management Plan.
