FINANCE COMMITTEE MINUTES
December 31, 1985
The Whatcom County Council Finance Committee was called to
order at 2 :18 p.m. by Chairperson Becker with all members
present. Also in attendance were Executive Shirley Van Zanten;
Tom Sutberry, Budget Director; N. F. Jackson, Assigned Counsel;
and Sheriff Larry Mount.

HANSEY MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL TO THE FULL COUNCIL
ADOPTION OF THE ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE £85 -3 WHICH
PERTAINS TO COUNTY FIRE MARSHAL SERVICES AND ARSON INVESTI-
GATION BY DELETING SECTION 4 OF THAT ORDINANCE ENTITLED
"SUNSET CLAUSE."
The motion carried.

Executive Van Zanten explained the background on the
bids for the defense of indigent adults.
N. F. Jackson, Assigned Counsel, explained the matter
further.
HANSEY MOVED TO RECOMMEND APPROVAL TO THE FULL COUNCIL
ACCEPTANCE OF THIS CONTRACT WITH BOBBINK & SIMMERS FOR THE
DEFENSE OF INDIGENT ADULTS IN SUPERIOR AND DISTRICT COURTS.
The motion carried.

Executive Van Zanten requested that this be held over
for two weeks since Paul Rushing is securing more information for
the Council pertaining to the disposal of leachate.
